Ecological Initiative of Chania has organised and participated in many environmental campaigns about:
-Recycling (achieving a new local politic that adopts recycling, reducing and reusing waste)
-Protection of the nearby public forest and shores (against the plans of building big hotels and a congress center there)
-Protection of the local lakes of Agia and Kourna.
-Protection of the White Mountains
-Promotion of Organic Farming (contributing to the creation of a cooperative of organic farmers and concerned consumers).
Ecological Initiative of Chania has organised or participated in many seminars and workshops of Environmental Education. Members of the Ecological Initiative of Chania have served in the Pedagogical Team of the Environmental Education Center of Vamos, having acquired great experience.
Ecological Initiative of Chania and has been publishing since 1994 an ecology newspaper called "Fourogatos" (that is the name of the wildcat in the local - Cretan- Greek dialect).
